The following is a list of LGBTQ-affirming support groups in Southwest Alabama. If you know any that are not on this list, please contact us at email@example.com.
Bayside Behavioral in Loxley, AL, hosts an LGBTQ Youth Group for youth ages 10 to 18. Please contact us for more information.
Prism Fairhope, a chapter of the Mobile, Alabama based organization Prism United, is an LGBTQ organization that specializes in services for youth. We recognize that LGBTQ youth continue to face verbal and physical abuse, rejection from their families, peers, and faith communities, and other disadvantages that no kid should have to experience just for being who they are.
For more information, e-mail our Site Director at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prism United provides services for and on behalf of LGBTQ youth on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Services include in-person and virtual support groups for LGBTQ teens (14-18) and preteens (10-13) and for parents of LGBTQ youth. Prism also provides youth with free HIV/STI testing and education, access to an LGBTQ young adult library, special events, referral to affirming mental and medical health professionals, and more. For additional info about our services and volunteer opportunities, please contact us.
Rainbow Mobile is dedicated to connecting LGBTQ+ people, and their allies, to foster a supportive, healthy and productive community within Coastal Alabama. We do this through advocacy, education, community building/networking, improving access to affirming resources, and visibility. We are working towards having a physical resource center in the near future.
Rainbow Mobile's LGBTQ Adult Support group meets every 2nd Saturday.
Southern Transgender Alliance (STA) is a support group for Transgender individuals and their friends, family and allies. Our goal is to provide support in the form of friendships, education, mentoring, and transgender resources. These resources include web-links, files and forms dealing with name change and gender marker change, information on trans friendly doctors and therapists, and news related to trans issues. We hold monthly support group meetings every 2nd Saturday in conjunction with Rainbow Mobile's LGBTQ Adult Support group. We also periodically hold social events in trans friendly spaces for our members and allies.
STA welcomes members from across the world but primarily serves the transgender community within southwest Alabama and adjoining areas of Mississippi and Florida.
